Change Management

"There is nothing more difficult to take in hand, more perilous to conduct, or more uncertain in its success, than to take the lead in the introduction of a new order of things." - Niccolo Machiavelli

Change is a constant in life and business, yet it is something people and organisations continue to struggle with. IBM identified the following 7 reasons IT project fail*:

  1. Poor project planning and direction
  2. Insufficient communication
  3. Ineffective management
  4. Failure to align constituents and stakeholders
  5. Ineffective involvement of Executive Management
  6. Lack of soft skills or the ability to adapt
  7. Poor or missing methodologies or tools

All but the last reason are partially or wholly due to poor change management knowledge, practice and/or experience.
